Hot Damn!

I cannot believe that I let the days slip by. :( Actually, maybe I can. I was good until yesterday before I had to write again. *sighs* And I wanted to write every day this month, but gah, didn't happen. Write in this journal, even, too. But that's okay. I'm just gonna have to accept that. And you know, of course, earlier this week, it wasn't such a big problem to me. Didn't mind that much. But now I do, oh yeah. I even had thoughts over the last couple of days that I want to stop, to drop out now. :() I honestly cannot believe I went there. I mean, I have 16,654 words left to write. That's a little less than a third of what I have to write completely. I can do this. And I can do this quite easily, in fact. If I wanted to, I could do seventeen more sprints at 1,000 a shot and I would be golden. That's nine more hours of writing. That's it. That's all I need to do. I can do that. I can get this finished. Maybe even by this weekend if I wanted to. But I would definitely settle for next Sunday, the 30th. Though, to be honest, I'd love to have it done by the 25th. I also want to get things verified with time to spare. I also want my writing to count toward the LJ donation that is going to NaNo. They are only taking the first 1000. And somehow I have it in my mind that it's going to go quickly.

I salute you, my fellow NaNoers. May you complete your works at the rate you want to get them done. And I'm gonna go writing, in between looking for a job and calling up a few people. :)

Day 16

Didn't do anything at the write-in, but because I had done the Word Wars this morning, I kind of didn't have to. I don't have to write any words before the 21st if I don't want to. But I'm really gonna try to keep the four day lead. I rather like that. :)

Day 15

So this is what writing a whole day is like. :D I started this morning and wrote for four hours. I did about nine pages in my journal and then 2000 words, with some help from a 30 minute sprint. I highly suggest doing those. I got about 1700 in mine, but my Word messed up. :( I was able to salvage 730 words from the recovery (it didn't save in the last twenty minutes of my sprint) and then reconstructed another six hundred. And then, before I left for the Write-In, I did another four hundred. I typed the nine pages, and the one page I did at the Write-In (did lots of talking, or listening to talking today), and then fudged on a couple of hundred words for the 15th instead of for the first hour of the 16th. And being that close, I don't think it matters if I'm not on the 30th. I am now exactly two days ahead. I don't know how I've been able to maintain my writing, but it seems to be working. There are definite ups and downs int his writing and it's mostly taking place in the character's head, but there is a plot. I'm going to try to tweak my pacing just a little.

Later this morning, I'm going to take part in two sprints with [ profile] theemdash. You should sign up too. They're fun for quick writing. :)

Okay, there now! Finally broke 25,000! Woot! Have a write-in on Saturday and Sunday and I think I want to try the Evening of Writing Dangerously, so that hopefully will be a lot of words. Maybe I can do 25,000 in two days. LOL That would be interesting, wouldn't it?

Soooo wanted to be over 20,000 today, but that's okay that I'm not because I saw such a great ep of Heroes tonight. :D There were other things I was up to. I'm pleased to see that I am currently about five days ahead of where I was in 2006's NaNoWriMo. So yay for that. :D Now let's see if I can get to 25,000 today. *L* I was toying with the idea of doing 50,000 by Sunday. I'm not sure how serious I am about that, but soon I'm gonna see.

So I'm here trying to finish my typing of my story and it just isn't happening. Too tired. But I have four and a half pages left to type. Gonna worry about that tomorrow. But I am now at 15,174. Did exactly what I wanted with getting 15,000 by today. Yays! :D

Wow. When I was writing in my journal, I really thought I had written at least 900 words, but that didn't seem to be the case. :( This seemed to be my slacking day. And I'm still 1060 words ahead. I keep on falling behind on my word count. I need to write 2274 words today to reach the 15003 goal for Sunday. So anything more than 2274 would be most lovely. I wish I knew how much I had written on Nov. 1st, but I did a combine of the two. However, I see that before I even left for the write-in--which we're gonna have another one today, yay!--I did 1,738 words. I'm leaving in two hours. I could do that now. I have a few more things I'm working on, too, but I already have a page and a half written in my journal. I may be well on my way to that word count yet. It's kinda funny: on one hand, this still seems difficult, but on another, I just write down words. And words always add something nice to my word count. As long as I'm writing, I'm progressing. There's even some plot in this story! I'm about to leave the scene I've been working on for the last couple of days. I'm kind of glad about that, too. But I was pleased that there was movement. I just have to keep the movement going. Sometimes the scene switches are difficult for me. I don't get bored, but I just hit a road block for ideas. However, I think I've introduced enough characters (so far have the three guys in the protagonist's life--Daniel, Erik, and Derek--the protagonist, Angela, a few of her co-workers, and Derek's sister, Gloria. And Daniel and Gloria haven't gotten any actual time in the story, just mentions. When I'm done with this story, I'm actually excited to re-read it and work with it more. I don't know if I'll be finishing it with NaNo, though. Think I'll still be working on it with the [ profile] autumnwrite. I need to start updating that, too. Think I'll do that later this weekend or next week. Right now, back to writing for me.

Day 6

So I must that I am pretty proud of myself. In about two and a half hours, spread between a bookstore and my bathtub, I wrote 1892 words. Now I can't imagine what I could come up with if I was working five hours, or more hours, just spread throughout the day. I'm set for tomorrow and am up 368 words. That's 1299 words I have to write to be cleared for Saturday. I'm shooting for 15,000 by Saturday, which will definitely ensure my day lead. I need 15,003 words by the end of Sunday. A really nice thought would be to get out 5,000 words between Saturday and Sunday, but I'm not interested in working too, too hard. I'm going at a good pace right now so I'm going to keep at it. It's so nice having some cushion room!

Day 5

Woot! Right now, I'm really happy with working on being at least one day ahead. I will attempt 3000 words today, but if I don't get all of them, that's more than okay. Everything I write now is reaching for tomorrow's goal. I'm very pleased just being over the 10,000 mark. Though, I'm still having the problem that I always have: the pacing. I haven't done any outline and perhaps that's a major problem. For people who don't use outlines, are there any thing you do for pacing?

Day 4

Okay, so I'm back in the place I was yesterday and am 553 words from completing Day 5's quota. I want to get that whole day finished so I can actually have a whole day of cushioning. So if I get 2220 words tomorrow, I'm all good. Gonna get to that. I have to make it today. I'll be writing before I get to work this time and hope that helps. I can at least knock out 400 words at that time. Maybe even the entire 553. Then get to the 1667 after I've gotten home from work. I can make this work. I'm staying on top of it and that is definitely helping so much. I'm more pumped than I was last year. It's kind of sad, too. I found some character write ups I did for a writing and art comm, where you as the NaNo writer are paired with an artist, and I really loved the write ups. I fell in love with my protagonist again. So, I was thinking: if I do finish this current story, I can get back to that one and do the bulk of it for [ profile] autumnwrite. Gah. I still need to add all of my words from my ramblings done before Nov. I might do that this weekend.

I didn't meet my quota of being a day ahead, but I'm still some words over where I needed to be for Day 3. As long as I get 552 words, I meet the quota for Day 4. But I would like to get 2219 words today. The story is going a little better, despite how it feels like it is lacking a soul. And I'm not sure about that, even. I'm still on the outer edges of this story and haven't dove in yet. I'm gonna do that today. It would be great to get 3000 words. I think that would really be helpful for me to getting back on track. One good thing about the writing today is that there were some flight analogies in here that fell in unintentionally. :D I think that was a good sign.

Not a lot of writing happened on day 2, but I have my writing done for Monday if, say, I don't get to writing then. I don't know where I'll be on day 3. I feel like I need to write something after reading Rachel Caine's advice about how to keep to writing and getting your NaNo done. It's good advice and I can't shake it because she's right. I was thinking of writing 2000 words a day, but I'm just shooting for being a full day ahead. I think I may shoot for two days ahead in the future, but not just yet. Give myself a few more days. The story isn't going how I'd like it and I'm reminded of the pacing problem I had with the other NaNos I've done. I'm going to work on that in my next writing. :)

Completed my needed words for today and I haven't even attended the write-in yet. That's gonna be happening in a little less than an hour now. Going to CK cafe with Katie and hopefully some other folks will be there. I hope people can find it!
writerfangirl: ([be very very quiet])
November 1st has begun and I now have this account active and paid up for two months, which is the length of time left in the [ profile] autumnwrite. NaNo's gonna help with that. Finishing up my icons later. But right now, I'm gonna get off line and start writing.

Talk to you all later.

Checking over the necessities for NaNo for this year:

&hearts Buy pens for handwritten writing (Precise V5) (Found a second pen so I'm good to go!)
&hearts Buy a two month w/ 100 icon add on on Nov. 1st*lets me finish [ profile] autumnwrite too* (Bought and paid for as of last night)
&hearts Collect more icons for journal (when it's equipped with 100 110. Seems I've accrued some loyalty icons with all the times I've had paid time on this account. Groovy!)
&hearts Set other dates for NaNo Write-ins (first write-in is Nov. 1st, 1PM, CK Cafe, in Claremont)
&hearts Fill my NaNo Playlist on YouTube to capacity
&hearts Research about Pasadena and do more reading on Zen Buddhism
&hearts Start saving money for coffee fund in Nov.
writerfangirl: ([imagination])
So I wasn't going out to think about NaNo, but it sort of came up when I got an update from the Municipal Liaison in the Inland Empire for her writing website. Kinda gave me a hint that maybe I should start at least thinking on what I want to do. And right now, I have no idea. No characters, no plot, no anything else. I do have some pens, though. That's something, right? Paper, too. And I know where I'll be going as much as possible when I'm in the midst of writing. And the theme of this Nano will be no Starbucks. Now that a part of my brain will be thinking on it, I hope that I'll start plugging away at some idea. Last year was a wash, but I still want to return to Heroes. I like the setting and the characters. Or maybe I'll try something original. I like working original things...ugh. Just need to think about this. I know I won't have more until September. I'm thinking I'll have more material to work with when I start working at the fair again.
