Just Not My Year for NaNo
Nov. 30th, 2007 11:53 pmAnd really, I have no complaints about this. :D November turned out much differently than I imagined it to be. I changed my shift at work in Nov and that was hard. Still is. I just had my first full week with the schedule, despite having started two weeks ago, and whew, I'm beat. Five days of working 6-10am and still going to bed after 1am each day. Whoops. Still working on that!
This November had me working more on my roleplaying chars. I'm wondering if I got anywhere near 50,000 words if I was to tally all the posts together. I've also been trying, unsuccessfully for right now, to find a new job. Have sent out a few apps, but haven't heard back. I'm not about to lose my faith on them, though, because the chance is still out there and many of them are pretty cool jobs. Fingers crossed for at least hearing back on one of them.
I also made some new friend during the month of November. People in RP, mostly, but got closer to some people I already know. I also hit it off with someone I met at the church I've been going to with my friend off and on since July.
What was really, really, so cool that I cannot express exactly how cool this is was how I attended three different events relating to Heroes actors and met four of the actors and artist Tim Sale. On the 2nd I went to see Zachary Quinto at the last Jimmy Kimmel show before the Writers' Strike (ironic that their contracts happened in Nov with the NaNoWriMo. Not that they are related, but still, ironic) broke out. Then, on the 5th, I went to CineSpace, in Hollywood, and got to meet Jack Coleman, Dana Davis, and Tim Sale--who told me that he didn't have the Heroes lunch box, despite how it's covered in his art. :( I so wanted to remedy that right then and there by giving him mine...but I love my lunch box too much to give away. At both the Quinto appearance and the CineSpace gig, I met some cool fans and strengthened other friendships. It was fabulous all the way around. And then, my very favorite of the three was attending the opening of Adrian Pasdar's play at the Geffen, on the 20th. I was lucky enough to spot him in the lobby during the intermission and got to speak with him for about three minutes. Everything I already loved about this man suddenly got better. It was an amazing experience and I'm still shocked it happened. At the end of the show, while I was hanging out with my friend Katie and some fangirls (also added them to my flist!), we met Leonard Roberts. He was such a sweetie and a fanboy to boot. There was another experience that I would treasure forever. We got to see a part of him that one wouldn't normally see. And that's the sort of thing I'm looking for in my engagements. :D
So though I didn't write a novel (got about 5400 words down), my month wasn't exactly uneventful. :D
I've already begun planning my next Heroes trip: hell or high water, I'll be attending the Heroes Event at the Jules Verne Adventures Film Festival.
