Writing Prompts (originally from toextraordinary on Insanejournal)
I've been thinking about prompts and I decided to hit the prompt community that I had made. There are some ninety prompts there. Lots of variety. Some are quotes, but most are phrases or are titles of books that I absolutely fell in love with. I gathered all of them in 2008, when I was a bookseller who was responsible for shelving books. So I got to see A LOT of books.
Please feel free to use these prompts for whatever you want to do with them. If you do use them, write to them, I'd love to see the result!
1. What does it mean to you to be different? If you could go back to being what you were, would you?
2. One moment changes everything
3. "Life is a long lesson in humility." - James M. Barrie
4. Who or what would you risk everything for?
5. Tell a story in six words
6. Where do you see yourself in ten years from now? Too long? How about in five years? Two years? A year and a day from now?
7. Fear ends where faith begins
8. Red or blue. Truth or ignorance of truth. If you could go back and take all the knowledge away, to return to your old life complete, would you? Why or why not?
9. Do you believe in a god? What is your relationship with religion and your higher power? Describe how your spirituality and/or religion affects your life.
10. "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah
I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone
Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah
Ah-ah, Ah-ah
I walk alone
I walk a...
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...
